When Hachiman stages the fake confession to keep Hayatoโs group in its comfortable โfalse harmonyโ and makes sure everything unchanged, Yukino feels heโs betrayed the principle they both shared. The twist is that back in season one Hachiman idealized Yukino for never lying, and now we see Yukino had been idealizing him for the very same reason.
