2022-02-08 22:50:13 +0000 UTCWhen I first heard this song, I equated it to a one-night stand. Obviously, the next few times I listened, my interpretation changed to the addiction meaning behind it. The thing that amazed me with this song was that it is a journeyโฆalbeit a sad one. The addict shows up, doing what he has to do to get his fix (calm, albeit somewhat unhinged), then when that explosive portion hits, the addict has gotten what they need and are rushing to get that fix into their system. By the end, when Maynardโs voice is floating away, the fix is kicking in and they are in that euphoric state addicts hit, but can never maintain. I always interpreted it as someone ODโing at the end, but thatโs just me. Excellent reaction Stevie. You should definitely head down that APC rabbit hole. Lot of gems in there.
