Hello everyone. I owe you all an apology 😭😭😭😢😢😭😭. Over the past few years, I stopped updating the Fluent for Steam skin because, as many of you noticed, Steam’s major interface overhaul rendered my work obsolete. Lacking the necessary skills to adapt it at the time, I felt immense frustration and sadness, which led me to withdraw from Discord and Patreon. I was unprepared to manage such a large, supportive community, and the realization that years of effort had seemingly vanished was devastating. This is the cost of dedicating time to third-party modifications for a platform like Steam.

However, I refused to give up entirely. Despite my absence, I began self-studying HTML, CSS, and JavaScript—Steam’s new framework—from scratch. This was challenging, as I am neither a professional programmer nor designer. For context, this project started as a hobby and later helped fund my law school travels, a contribution for which I can never fully express my gratitude.

Balancing self-taught frontend development (hundreds of hours) with my studies prolonged the wait. About a year ago, once I felt confident, I started rebuilding Fluent for Steam from the ground up. Some screenshots were shared on my GitHub, though I halted updates after another skin creator began copying my designs. To those responsible: please respect the time and creativity invested—create original work instead of replicating mine.

Some things

Release Timeline: The first version will launch within 1-5 weeks. Updates will roll out gradually (e.g., Library first, followed by Play and Store sections), as overhauling Steam’s vast interface requires meticulous work beyond mere color changes.
New Features: Leveraging JavaScript, I’ve integrated SteamGridDB to natively add custom artwork (e.g., emulator games) and enable 1x1 aspect ratio support for game covers, collections custom icons, new contextmenus..
Patreon & Early Access: The skin will remain free, but patrons will receive 14 days of exclusive early access. After this period, it will be publicly released on the Discord server. Additionally, all past supporters will receive early versions via email—no obligations, just our deepest gratitude.
