Owl tutorial progress
Added 2020-05-17 22:15:36 +0000 UTCDare I say it - Iโm really liking this smooth paper ๐ Iโve spent all day drawing and Iโm starting to kind of get the hang of it I think. Iโm actually using two photos - one sharp and one slightly blurred - I will supply both with three tutorial. I didnโt want to go all out with detail in the face so added a blur in photoshop. I donโt think I need to add all the tiny details so itโs working quite well. You can use any smooth paper or pastelmat or drafting film. Iโm using Hahnemuhle Nostalgie - itโs a bright white paper, has a soft texture and takes quite a few layers of pencil. I can use the tombow really well on it and the slice to a certain extent. It doesnโt photo well in my strong light sadly - itโs made it look a little harsh even when Iโve softened it.

They are very different - although both smooth papers. The hn is almost harder if that makes sense? whereas the fabriano i find a little spongy. I like the fact that I don't have to use a lot of pressure on the HN to get good pigment whereas with the FA i needed to add quite a bit of pressure.
